Removing the Rocks

Recently our church started a Community Garden in an area of land that had not been used for years. At one time it may have been farm land now it is simply filled with rocks. Last week my family took about forty five minutes and picked up a wheel barrel full of rocks. We could have picked up ten wheel barrel full. Not the most fun part of a garden but necessary if the land is to produce a good harvest.

Many of us have rocks in our personal life; they are called sin, bitterness and lack of forgiveness. In order for God to use us we have to do the tedious but necessary task of ridding our field (heart) of the rocks. One by one we must seek forgiveness from God for sin, put the pain of past hurts behind us and forgive those who may have caused that pain. It’s not easy, it takes time, but it is necessary if God is going to be able to produce a good harvest in our hearts.

Today pause for a moment and ask God to reveal to you any rocks in your life; then start ridding your heart of them one by one. A ripe harvest of peace and love awaits.

Ephesians 4:31-32 “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
