Take the Test!

I need for you to do me a favor here on Friday afternoon if you will. Please take the following test, being as honest as you can possibly be, not for my good but your own.
Here we go:
- Do you like crushed ice or cubed? Crushed 2 points/cubed 1
- Do you sleep on your side or on your back? Side 2 points/back 1
- Would you say you salt most of your foods or not? Salt 2 points/not 1
- Do you call any carbonated drink coke or soda? Coke 2 points/soda 1
- Which do you like better Country Music or Pop? Country 2 points/Pop 1
- Do you like the weather hot or cold? Hot 2 points/ Cold 1
- Is your favorite ice cream vanilla or chocolate? Vanilla 2 points/Chocolate 1
It is one thing to be like me, counseling and a great deal of prayer can help you out on that one. But when it comes to real life we need to take the test and make sure we are more like Christ. How might you ask do you take that test?
- Do you think of others before yourself?
John 3:16
- Do you spend more time serving than being served?
Matthew 20:28
- Do have a spirit of forgiveness?
Matthew 6:14
- Do you have compassion on others you see in trouble or struggling?
Matthew 9:36
- Is there in your life a spirit of peace? One that you cannot explain.
If you answered yes to all of these questions then you are a far cry from me and a lot more like Jesus. Truth be known we all have a long way to go in being more like the Lord but it does us good to take the test every once and a while to make sure we are on the right track.
*Thoughts for the weekend:
A) Take an inventory on what you are doing to become more like the Lord.
B) Pray for God to speak to your heart about one area you need to work on.
C) Decide to not be sidetracked on your journey. (Diversions will surely come your way!)
Let’s close with an ancient proverb: “I heard and I forgot; I saw and I remembered; I did and I understood.”
Scripture: 2 John 1:6, “And this is love: That we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.”
Prayer: Dear Lord, lead us to be more like you each and every day, give us the strength to get past the distractions and have a good daily focus. We thank you for your love and ask these things in the name of Christ, Amen.
